LE 1Heidi James, Teacher [AMI Elementary Certifications]
Heidi grew up mostly in the foothills of Golden, Colorado but with lengthy stints throughout her childhood in Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea. She moved to Minnesota to attend St. Olaf College where she graduated in 2009 with a degree in English Literature and Anthropology. After graduating from college she began working for Minneapolis Public School as a reading tutor and after school arts teacher. In 2011 she started working at Oak Hill Montessori as a classroom assistant in Lower Elementary 1. In 2012 she enrolled in the AMI Elementary training. She received her Elementary Certification form the Montessori Center of Minnesota in 2015, and will complete her Master of Arts in Education in the summer of 2016. Heidi enjoys making and appreciating music, taking leisurely bike rides, and exploring the food, arts and culture of the Twin Cities.Seth Wait, Assistant
LE 2Anne Wussler, Teacher [AMI Primary and Elementary Certification]
Anne Schaefer Wussler has taught eight years at the Lower Elementary level at Oak Hill Montessori School. Anne taught creative movement and dance, Lower Elementary and Junior High Philosophy, Social Studies and Humanities in her twelve years teaching at Lake County School in Minneapolis. Anne's parents, Pat and Larry Schaefer, founded Lake County School. Anne taught at World Learner Montessori School, a Charter Program in Chaska. Anne has also taught at the Public Montessori, Crossroads School, in St. Paul. Anne holds a BA from Macalester College in Humanities and Anthropology. Her AMI Elementary Certification is from Montessori Training in Bergamo, Italy. She has a MALS in dance and movement studies from Wesleyan University and her elementary teaching license and MA in Education from the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul. Anne and her husband, Jack, have one child, Jesse, who attends Oak Hill Montessori's elementary program.Tyler Davis, Assistant
UE 1Glen Jones, Teacher [AMI Elementary Certification]
Glen Jones was born in Tallahassee, Florida in the spring of 1969. He grew up in Ocean Springs, Mississippi and moved to the Twin Cities as a young adult in the late eighties. Glen is an experienced elementary teacher with a broad range of interests. He came to Oak Hill Montessori in August of 1997 to found the school’s first 9-12 classroom. He completed his AMI elementary training in Milwaukee, Wisconsin a year earlier.
As an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota, Glen majored in both History and Anthropology. He continues archaeological fieldwork in Central America during his summers off. From his daily duties to directing large-scale school-wide performances, Glen enjoys the many “hats” teaching offers. His other interests include composing music and performing with his band, skateboarding, and photography.
UE 2Amanda Cade, Teacher [AMI Elementary Certification]
Originally from Iowa, Amanda moved to the Twin Cities after graduating from Morningside College with a degree in music. While Amanda began teaching in Upper Elementary II in 2006, she came to Oak Hill Montessori in 2001 as the elementary after school coordinator and then as an elementary assistant. The Oak Hill Montessori community thought highly enough of Amanda to sponsor her to take the AMI training course. She received her AMI Elementary Certification from the Montessori Training Center of Minnesota in 2006 and completed her Master's degree at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland in 2007. She and her husband live in a Saint Paul bungalow. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, gardening, and searching for craftsman furnishings.
